In honor of REVEREND FUJII

This month’s article is in honor of REVEREND FUJII

It was written in 2008 and thanking the congregation for all the support of our

100th Year Anniversary of the Guadalupe Buddhist Church

Happy New Year, Everyone!

Your support and cooperation made me possible to see the new year of 2009. I appreciate you for your visible and invisible contributions through the year of 2008. I’d also like to share Buddha-Dharma with you and to work and walk together in this year.

Nowadays, we also see many changes in many fields in the world this year as Buddha teaches that everything changes constantly. We see economy in the world has been facing to one of unusual difficult times which happens once every hundred years and requires basic changes in society. It’s hard even for professional economists and politicians to predict what would happen to this country and her people. We know that people expected better days and society in the 21st Century. However, we have witnessed something opposite such as terror attacks, conflicts, and depression. These are all results from our past causes and conditions. But why do we see hardship all over?

When we think and create something wonderful, we create something opposite at the same time. For example, we make tasty Tofu; at the same time we see its waste of “Okara” which is hard for chefs to cook. We got a calculator; we lost calculating ability. We agreed to follow market economy, we see this economic mess. We plan and make positive things, and at the same time we knowingly or unknowingly create negative things. Indeed, serious limitation exists in us. This is what Buddha teaches us.

With this understanding of the Teaching, the temple celebrates her Centennial on Saturday, October 17, 2009, which would be a new step for our future. The temple leaders have thought and planned to realize improve feature of the temple and will need understanding and support from temple members in this year.

In this new year of 2009, I would like to share the Teaching with you and would like to work and walk with you.
