Obon Festival Highlights – Photos, online articles and news coverage

The Guadalupe Buddhist Church announces the postponement of this year’s Obon Festival due to public health concerns surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic. The festival has been held annually without fail, since the Japanese-American community returned to this area after World War II, and is a favorite local event.

Obon Festivals are held around the world in honor of ancestors who have shared their compassion and wisdom and have contributed so much to our lives. The Obon Festival gives the community the opportunity to share their respects and gratitude to our collective ancestors.

Event planners want to thank the community for their support throughout the years and ask everyone to mark their calendars for next year, Sunday, July 25, 2021!

For more information about the Guadalupe Buddhist Church or to see pictures and video of previous Obon Festivals, please check out their website at, or their Facebook page.
