SANTA MARIA, Calif. – Preparations for Sunday’s Japanese Obon Festival in Santa Maria is underway.
This 110-year-old tradition is put on to honor the participants’ ancestors.
Organizers said it’s also a family-friendly cultural event for everyone.
Visitors can take part in the Obon Odori dance, Japanese food, entertainment and a variety of exhibits.
The Obon Festival will be held at the Veteran’s Memorial Community Center in Santa Maria on Sunday from 11:30 a.m. To 6:00 p.m.
