Central Coast Asian American History

Want to learn more about Asian American History on the Central Coast? Be sure to visit the Central Coast Asian Americans History.

https://www.centralcoastasianhistory.org/japanese-american-history

The website was created after protests and paddle outs occurred all over the nation, following the death of George Floyd. The response to the murder of George Floyd has furthered the awareness of all Americans to the racism that is the “dirty secret” of this nation’s history.

This website was started by Emily Pan, a second generation Chinese American and junior at San Luis Obispo High School. She created this website to preserve the mark Asian Americans have left on the Central Coast over the years. Included in this website are videos, interviews with local historians and residents, photos of artifacts, and much more!

The website was created with support by: Dr. Grace Yeh, Ethnic Studies, Cal Poly SLO; Dr. Daniel Krieger, Professor Emeritus of history, Cal Poly SLO; History Center of San Luis Obispo County; Elliot Gong; Jim Gregory; and Richard Waller. The funding for the domain and hosting of this website is made possible through the #HeartwarmingProject grant and Cal Poly Ethnic Studies.

Feel free to explore the website, and contact, https://www.centralcoastasianhistory.org/contact if you have any questions or information to share.
